Melancholy Grunge Band Cudbear Release Chilling New Single “Phantoms”
Cudbear is a hard rock trio based in Barrie/Toronto. The band’s distinctive sound draws elements of grunge, punk, and alternative rock. Their music contrasts calmness with ferocity, sometimes in one song. When listening to Cudbear the sudden changes in temper and melody make for an exciting auditory experience.
Some of the band’s core influences are mega acts like Nirvana, Black Sabbath, The Beatles, and Slipknot. The band also channels inspiration from newer bands like The Dirty Nil, Fidlar, Wavves, IDLES, and Tigercub.
Cudbear has unveiled their latest single, “Phantoms.”
The band shares,
“‘PHANTOMS’ is the first single to be released by CUDBEAR from their upcoming album PURPLE. The song originated like many songs of ours on an acoustic guitar. While picking through the notes of melancholic chord progression an eerie melody emerged. This what would become the melody for the chorus of the song. Shortly after the haunting lyrics to the chorus were written.”
