Robert Ross Shares New Singles, “Drink ’em Down” & “Mamma’s Song”

Canadian/Australian singer-songwriter Robert Ross‘s music journey began in Miramichi, New Brunswick, Canada. Influenced by country legends like Johnny Cash and Merle Haggard, Robert’s heartfelt folk and country roots were nurtured by his mother Betty. His debut album IT’S NEVER TOO LATE featured hits like “JACK DANIELS” and “DRIVING ME INSANE,” topping charts in Australia and on the world indie charts. Now, in Nashville, Robert is set to release his second album, BETTER WITH TIME, with the first two singles, “Drink ’em Down” and “Mamma’s Song.”

First off, care to introduce yourself to our readers?

I was born and raised on the Miramichi in New Brunswick, Canada. Small town New Brunswick was a breeding ground for folk songs written from the heart and from life. From an early age, I found my love for country music in hearing my mother (Betty) singing around the house, and on the weekends you were sure to hear country music at any of the local dances
or socials. These songs became the basis of my music today.

I served in the Canadian Army for 11 and a half years traveling coast to coast in Canada and in that time served overseas for 3 and a half years. I moved to Australia in 2009 and became an Australian Citizen in 2014. I moved to Nashville in November 2023 to begin recording my second album, working with Award-winning Canadian Artist/Producer Gil Grand. I have
become immensely popular in the Cairns region while performing live for many audiences over the years.  I have also entertained throughout Australia, and internationally in Nashville, USA, and Canada. My style is influenced by country greats Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Randy Travis, and other country artists such as Sawyer Brown, as well as good ole Rock n’ Roll. My music comes from life.  The good, the bad, and the hilarious!  This is where we all have something in common.

My songs “JACK DANIELS” and “DRIVING ME INSANE” reached #1 on the charts in Australia and also on the world indie charts. My song “DON’T YOU CRY” Was #1 on the world indie charts and was also nominated for single of the year at the Josie Music Awards in Nashville. My #1 single “JACK DANIELS” also made the top 40 radio play for 2021 in Australia.

My new album titled “BETTER WITH TIME” is compiled of 10 original songs written or co-written by me. I will be releasing the first single from the new album on the 26th of July 2024

Tell us a bit about your most recent release.

I’ll be releasing 2 singles from my upcoming album “Better With Time” on the 26th of July, “Mammas Song” and “Drink Em’ Down” Drink Em’ Down Is a fun, sing-along, toe-tapping Break-up drinking Party song. All the ingredients of a great country song. When you have that breakup and you just want to get it out of your head, Drink Em’ Down, Drink Em’ Down, come on bartender just set em up and I’ll Drink Em’ Down “Mamma’s Song” is a heartfelt song written in memory of my late Mother Betty Comeau. It tells of the love we had for each other and the heartbreak of losing her when she passed. Remembering back to the sound of her voice as she sang those beautiful gospel songs.

Do you have any upcoming shows you’d like to tell us about?

In August I’ll be on the road for a radio tour in the southern states. September I’m heading back to Alberta for the CCMA’s in Edmonton. Shows and showcases are to be announced for that.

If given the chance, which Canadian artist would you love to work with in the future?

What’s your goal for 2024?
