Country Duo Rosewood Ave Releases Powerful Duet “Talk About Us”
Nestled in the heart of Ontario’s true north, Rosewood Ave is a country duo that’s taking small-town dreams to new heights. Fate brought Dave and Sabrina together when his family was forced to move to the small town of Iroquois Falls after a local paper mill shutdown. Luckily for them, Dave moved across the avenue from Sabrina. It didn’t take long until they fell in love and became high school sweethearts, and now they’re making music as husband and wife.
Their romantic single, “Talk About Us,” is an enthralling high-energy duet sharing another chapter in the power couple’s love story. Written by country superstar Lainey Wilson and hit songwriters Trannie Anderson and Drew Green, and produced by Bart McKay (Brett Kissell, Kalsey Kulyk), the song seamlessly blends a contemporary feel with their traditional and soothing voices.
First off, care to introduce yourself to our readers?
We’re Rosewood Ave, a husband-and-wife country duo from the small town of Matheson in northern Ontario. Our journey together started back in high school when Dave moved across the avenue from Sabrina. We were high school sweethearts and have been making music together ever since. We feel incredibly fortunate to have been nominated twice for the CMAOntario Duo or Group of the Year. Our music is a reflection of our shared experiences and the deep connection we have with each other and our roots in northern Ontario.
Tell us a bit about your most recent release.
Our most recent single is called “Talk About Us,” and we’re incredibly excited about it. We were lucky enough to be pitched this amazing song, which was written by country superstar Lainey Wilson alongside talented writers Trannie Anderson and Drew Green. We put together an amazing Canadian all-star team for this track including our producer Bart McKay (Brett Kissel), Murray Pulver on guitar (Doc Walker), Travis Switzer on bass (Dallas Smith) and Chad Melchart on drums (Gord Bamford). “Talk About Us” is a powerful love duet that captures the essence of the country duets we’ve grown up loving, but with a high-energy, contemporary vibe that makes it feel fresh and exciting.
How do you typically go about the songwriting process? Do you have a specific method or creative routine that you follow?
Being a husband and wife duo is really cool because it allows us to write music together whenever inspiration strikes. Our process is pretty organic. Typically, Dave will start by playing around with some guitar ideas, and that sparks melodic concepts for Sabrina. From there, we build on those initial ideas and shape them into full songs. We also love to co-write with other writers, whether it’s over Zoom or in person. Collaborating with others brings fresh perspectives and creativity into our music, which we really enjoy.
Looking ahead, what are your plans for supporting this new release? Are there any upcoming tours, music videos, or additional content that fans can look forward to in connection with this project?
We’re always working on something exciting in the background. For “Talk About Us,” we’re launching some new merch that will be available on our website soon. We’re also continuing to tour and bring our music directly to our fans. Eventually, we’ll be working on a music video for the single. We always have a blast recording music videos and can’t wait to bring our vision for this song to life. Additionally, we have a really active social media presence, so fans can expect lots of videos and fun content related to the release. We’re as busy as ever, and enjoying every minute of it!
Looking back on your musical career, is there a particular moment or accomplishment that you consider a turning point or a highlight?
Honestly, we feel it’s so important to celebrate every little moment, and we’re truly grateful for all of the amazing experiences that come with the music life. However, if we had to pick a standout moment, being two-time nominees at the CMAOntario Awards for Group or Duo of the Year is a huge accomplishment for us. This year was particularly special because we were invited to present an award at the show. Having Jason McCoy introduce us to the stage was an incredible and surreal experience. Moments like these remind us of how far we’ve come and fuel our passion to keep pushing forward.
Last but not least, it’s time to pay it forward, what upcoming band or artist would you recommend your fans check out?
There are so many amazing up-and-coming country artists out there right now! Every Friday, we make it a point to listen to new releases, and we’ve discovered some incredible talent. We’re really loving Zach Top, Kalsey Kulyk, Riley Taylor, Mae Estes, and Jenna Paulette. They all have cool sounds that stay true to traditional country while bringing something fresh to the table. Country music is in an amazing place right now, and we highly recommend checking out these artists!
