The Free Label Announces Debut Album, Songs For Sienna
The Free Label has announced their debut album Songs for Sienna and shares the second single off the record “Blue Suede”. Comprising six multi-instrumentalists and vocalists from Toronto, The Free Label’s music is a unique fusion of 70s disco, 90s R&B, and high-energy funk. Their debut is a distillation of the bands’ early influences in soul, pop, and R&B. Songs for Sienna is set for release on October 18th via Westwood Recordings. Catch their captivating, dance-focused show this summer at festival shows across Canada and as a special guest for renowned soul group Ripe in the US.
“Blue Suede”, follows the single “Change Your Mind” which CBC Music Songs You Need To Hear declared as staking “an early claim for this year’s song of the summer.” “Blue Suede” is a journey of overcoming the anxiety that comes from the pressure of trying to keep someone.
The band’s 2019 single “All Night” propelled them to new heights, enabling them to tour internationally. Since then, they have independently toured Europe, North America, and Australia, garnering fans along the way. Noteworthy festival appearances include the Mariposa Folk Festival, Laketown Shaketown, Wapiti, and the Calgary Stampede, where they opened for internationally acclaimed artists T-Pain, Aqua, and Lupe Fiasco. The band has become a viral sensation with their live performance videos amassing over 15 million views across the platforms. While on their 2023 European tour, they opened for legendary soul group Incognito and R&B/Jazz virtuoso Mono Neon. In the studio, the band has collaborated with Grammy-nominated artists such as saxophonist Braxton Cook, featured on their 2022 release “Shine,” and Grammy-nominated producer Aaron Paris (Drake, Kanye West, Kali Uchis) who composed and recorded strings for their single, “Real Love.”
