Hi Sojiii ! Care to introduce yourself to the readers?

Yes absolutely, I am Sojiii, a prominent face in the afrobeat genre in Canada and Nigeria. I am a unique artist in my own right, and I am one of the finest representations of African and world music In North America.

Congratulations on the release of your EP “Alive”! How does it feel to finally share this project with the world?

Thank you, very much! Haha. I am excited! It’s exciting to see what I have been working on from far back as 3 years ago come to light. It’s also exciting to see how it has been received so far by old and new listeners. True an amazing time for me, I do feel like Alive, and hope everyone who listens to this album comes alive as well.

How has moving to Toronto impacted your music career and the development of your sound?

Moving to Toronto was a big step for me when it first happened. I moved to Toronto as a teenager, so at first it was overwhelming, but growing up here from my early adult age to this moment has sharpened me in the best way possible and it has also been a major influence on my growth and the type of unique sounds I create. The vibes of my songs have both the African and Toronto feel to it.

Your single “Ti Le” is gaining a lot of attention. What was the inspiration behind this track, and how did you approach its production?

It’s Incredible to see, but seeing how good the song is doing out there has encouraged me to even put out more amazing songs.

The inspiration behind Ti Le, is just a simple. A good woman.

Ti Le is the representation of a good woman, what a wife should be, and how she should be praised, taken care of, and treated. It’s a song I dedicated to all the true queens out there, haha.

Ti Le means My baby, it’s a song for a woman any man would want to build a home with.

Where do you see the future of Afrobeats music heading, and how do you envision your role in its evolution?

I think afrobeats movement itself is already self-explanatory, it’s definitely the number one music genre out there right now and it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. My reason for saying this is the colorful, rich, cultured sound that comes from this genre is not found anywhere else and can only be truly created by those infused in the culture, proper students of the culture and genre. There are so many great Afrobeat songs yet to be made or if already made to be released. It can only keep getting better.

My role in the growth of afrobeat is to continuously evolve My sound, by creating new sounds and melodies with both the rich culture of Nigeria and Canada and taking it my stage performance and image to another level. My voice and image alone stand out and I want to keep using my voice to give people of the world joy, through music.
