ONE REAL REVEAL LP OUT SEPTEMBER 13th
As the height of another simmering season transpires, Joel Plaskett‘s latest single “High Summer” rings in with hazy memories of a weekend “lost in the woods”, looking back and to the future simultaneously. Written under the glow of a waning full moon, the song dances around summer romance with cautionary statements and simple questions.
As “High Summer” comes to a close, we seem to have shaken off the tentativeness and focused forward. “Baby, meet me in the fall,” Joel sings, and whether he means the season or a different kind of fall is anybody’s guess. “Maybe you and I, we’re really not so different after all.“
This latest single will be featured on Plaskett’s upcoming album, One Real Reveal, his most contemplative work to date, due out on September 13th. Recorded solo on a 4-track cassette machine, with all the human touches the tape could pick up – the album delivers Plaskett’s songs in their most unguarded form.
One Real Reveal also features the languorous, waltzing lead single “Rainy Day Janey,” and Plaskett’s first spoken-word poem, “The New Joys,” released this past April to coincide with National Poetry Month. The album will be supported in the fall by an intimate national tour aptly titled One Real Reveal On Wheels. Tickets are on sale now at www.joelplaskett.com.
