The second night of the Halifax Jazz Festival on July 10 featured Fitz and the Tantrums, with Ruby Waters as the supporting act. The Halifax Waterfront created the perfect setting for a memorable night of performances on the TD Main Stage.

The Ontario-based Ruby Waters warmed up the crowd while marvelling at the ships passing by in the harbour. She is known for her distinctive blend of folk, rock, and indie-pop influences. Ruby’s music often explores personal struggle, resilience, and self-discovery inspired by her own life experiences. She delivered a solid setlist, including “Rabbit Hole” and “Quantum Physics,” along with tracks from her latest release, What’s The Point, such as “Sour Patch” and “Adult Swim.”

The California band Fitz and The Tantrums, self-described as “soul-influenced indie pop,” took the stage next and played hit after hit. Known for their infectious energy and vibrant stage presence, the band played “Out of My League,” “Sway,” “I Just Wanna Shine,” “HandClap,” “Fool,” and more from their discography. Despite the hot weather, their onstage charisma and energy turned the performance into a dance-filled experience as they engaged with the crowd.
