Country Artist Ryan Langdon Releases New Single, “Whiskey Bottle”
Canadian country artist Ryan Langdon has unveiled his new single “Whiskey Bottle,” released via Hidden Pony Records on all streaming platforms.
Ryan is known for his energetic anthems like “Lit In The Sticks” and “Crossfaded” and showcases another side of his musical and personal artistry with his new single “Whiskey Bottle”. Co-written with Jim Witter and Andrew Martino (Down with Webster), this emotional ballad diverges from your typical “sad country song” that romanticizes the effects and abuse of alcohol. While creating this single, Ryan and his co-writers strived for an honest approach that sheds light on the harsh reality that drowning your sorrow in liquor only intensifies heartbreak and causes more problems.
Ryan is also gearing up to perform shows in Toronto this summer, with announcements coming soon. Stay up to date at https://ryanlangdonmusic.com.
First off, care to introduce yourself to our readers?
I’m Ryan Langdon, a singer-songwriter from Niagara, Ontario. With a decade in the music industry, I’ve seen four of my tracks break into the top 40 on the Canadian Country Billboard charts, including one top 30 hits that I was featured on with Karli June, “Feel Like Home”.
What inspired you and your co-writers to take a more candid approach with “Whiskey Bottle” diverging from the typical narrative of ”sad country songs”?
The inspiration for “Whiskey Bottle” first started from a melody and idea that Jim Witter came in with into the writing session. We wanted to write something that showed my sensitive side but also wanted to be real and authentic to me. While many sad country songs suggest that alcohol eases heartbreak, we wanted to reveal the truth: it actually makes things worse. Often, you spiral so far down that even if they wanted you back, it would never work.
How did your collaboration with Jim Witter and Andrew Martino influence the creative direction of ”Whiskey Bottle”?
Over the past few years, the three of us have worked together and have written quite a few songs now. We’ve developed a bond that meshes well together, like a family. Each of us brings a unique style to our writing sessions. Jim delivers classic country flair, I add a rock edge, and Marty infuses pop and R&B vibes. When we come together, the blend just works really well.
“Whiskey Bottle” explores the harsh realities of alcohol’s impact on heartbreak and personal struggles. How did you approach conveying this message authentically through your music?
Today, I’m a happily married man with a wonderful new family. However, my earlier years weren’t all sunshine and rainbows. I’ve faced some tough times in past relationships, but each experience has ultimately made me stronger and better. The core message of this song is clear: if a relationship feels like a constant struggle, it may not be meant to be. It’s about embracing the courage to move forward, trusting that the right person will come into your life when the time is right.
Could you tell us about your recent country-rock rendition of Blackstreet and Dr. Dre’s “No Diggity”? What inspired you to reinterpret this iconic track?
The inspiration for this song traces back to my early days performing in bars, where “No Diggity” was my go-to for energizing the crowd. Growing up in the ’90s, it became one of my all-time favorites. I always dreamed of sharing my rendition with the world, and with the help of producers Andrew Martino and Brian Revlin, that dream has come true.
Looking ahead, what else can we look forward to from you in 2024?
2024 is a year of focusing on releasing and sharing more music with the world in hopes of releasing my first full-length album when it is all said it done.
