Featuring Shania Twain, The Beaches & Loud Luxury

Stanley Cup Finals
I held off writing this review hoping to be able to boast about the Edmonton Oilers’ ferocious comeback to win the Stanley Cup, but as fate would have it, we lost an incredibly close game. After forcing Game 7 in a series which Florida started off with a commanding 3-0 series lead. It’s still a mind-blowing comeback story for a team that in November of last year was tied for dead last.
As part of the celebration for the Stanley Cup Finals, the NHL hosted a series of concerts at the home games for each team, Edmonton’s dubbed Rogers Festival at the Final. The Florida Panthers featured The Kid Laroi and DJ Khaled before games 1 & 2 respectively, and the Oilers brought in heavyweights Our Lady Peace and Shania Twain for games 3 & 4. Game 6 saw performances from The Beaches and Loud Luxury capping off a series of star-studded sets from Canadian musical royalty.
Boasting crowds of nearly 12,000 people for each performance, Oilers fans were absolutely HYPED to be part of the finals, and cheering on the team that has repeatedly beaten the odds this season, including a 16-game win streak (the second longest in NHL history, and longest ever by a Canadian team), and the aforementioned rough start to the season.
While I missed Our Lady Peace (stupid work, grumble), I did catch Shania Twain‘s dazzling 7-song set – and let me tell you – she’s still got it. Fun, energetic, and a brilliant showcase of her vocal abilities.
While I am far less familiar with The Beaches and Loud Luxury, they both put on great sets that had the crowd jumping, dancing, and singing along.
Being able to experience the watch parties and live shows from this perspective felt like an incredible honor, and I’m super grateful to have been able to be present and participate in cheering on our Edmonton Oilers at such an exciting end to a great season.
NEXT YEAR, THE CUP IS OURS!
