ZACH’S PICKS OF THE WEEK – JUNE 17 TO JUNE 22, 2024

Once again, I’m here with the best new music on the Internet. Welcome to Canadian Beats and Zach’s Picks of the Week! This segment features my favourite articles that were released on our websites this last week. Consider it a musical highlight reel that you need to share with your friends and enjoy for yourself. All the links to these articles will be found below in the post that you’re reading right now. Across our website, there is so much more to explore. So it’s up to you if you want to go explore or enjoy these recommendations that I have hand-picked for you. Let’s get right into the new music here on Zach’s Picks Of The Week!!

Five

Kicking off this week’s list of new music will be Nigerian-born and Saskatchewan-grown artist ADEOLUWA. Steadily crafting a memorable music career, he released a brilliant Afropop EP called For The Fourth in April. His latest single “Under the Moonlight” blends hypnotic indie pop, melodies with the best of Afrobeats. You can hear the new single when you check out the article we have posted here.

Four

Making our way into the next recommendation, it’s Canadian musician Rebecca Lappa. She is diving into something more sensual for her new single, “Underneath Me” which you can find across all streaming platforms now. The feeling of isolation is also gorgeously captured in the music video, as Lappa whiles away the hours in a rustic autumnal landscape. If you want to enjoy the new video, it can be found here.

Three

Next up is Canadian singer/songwriter, teacher, and musical philanthropist, Danny Lamb. He is joining us with his single “Champion”, available now across all streaming sites. We all have the power to reach inside ourselves and find what it takes to be our own biggest hero. Now and then, we need the encouragement of someone who had to do the same thing to press on. That’s exactly what Danny Lamb brings in his single “Champion”, encouraging everyone to strive for greatness. If you wanna hear his new single, be sure to check out the article we have posted right here.

Two

This week’s second top spot will be Edmonton’s folk-roots musician Christin Hyshka. Here to share his sophomore album, Rescue, which is out now on all digital streaming platforms. To celebrate the release of the album, Christian is also releasing the third single titled, “The River”. The rousing track tells a tale of redemption and loss, leaving you the listener contemplating both. However, all nine songs on this record tell a different story. So you better check out the article. We have posted right here.

BONUS: Canadian Beats Passport

This will be my bonus pick of the week from our Canadian Beats Passport articles. All the way from Albuquerque New Mexico, it’s going to be Grey Star Ghost. The quest to find “your people” can be a difficult one. However, in their new single, they managed to capture the awkwardness and loneliness in the search for “The Party”. Which you find now across all streaming platforms and music sites. The inspiration behind the song came when frontman Jacob Tucker, attended a work event in hopes of getting to know his coworkers and maybe even making a few friends. It didn’t take him long to realize that these were just not his people. Please be sure to check out my bonus recommendation right here.

One

Time for this week’s number one recommendation, Saskatchewan-based, Métis singer/songwriter Berk Jodoin. Recently he unveiled his brand new album, Fly Away to all streaming platforms. Giving us a glimpse into the challenges he has overcome over the course of his life and further unflinching Observations of how others in similar circumstances are struggling to survive in urban centres across North America. It was inspired by the sounds of classic country and blues, all ten songs are brilliantly combined together for your enjoyment. Please be sure to check out all recommendations, but especially this one right here.

Those have been my choices for Zach’s Picks of the Week. Be sure to go and explore the rest of our website, every single day there is new stuff being posted.
