“That Wind is about fighting through whatever you have to fight through to get to your goals. It’s when you’re getting ready for that battle of following your dreams.” – Jade Turner
First off care to introduce yourself to our readers?
Tansi! My name is Jade Turner and I’m from Misipawistik Cree Nation.
Tell us a bit about your recent release.
That Wind was written while I was out dog sledding. I wrote it for the SiriusXM Top of the Country competition. It’s about fighting through anything you need to fight through in order to get to your goals and follow your dreams.
How do you typically go about the songwriting process? Do you have a specific method or creative routine that you follow?
I don’t really have a specific process; it’s different for every song. For this one I was in Churchill, MB. I wrote it alone and then explained to my producer what I heard in my head as I don’t play instruments. This is normal for us though so he understands what I’m going for normally!
Looking ahead, what are your plans for supporting this new release? Are there any upcoming tours, music videos, or additional content that fans can look forward to in connection with this project?
Not specifically for this one, but I do have plans to release more music this year.
Looking back on your musical career, is there a particular moment or accomplishment that you consider a turning point or a highlight?
I don’t think there is one specific point in my career – it’s been a bunch of steps or building blocks that have moved me to the next level or place. Lots of learning.
Last but not least, it’s time to pay it forward, what upcoming band or artist would you recommend your fans check out?
Check out Mitchel Makoons!
