On Wednesday, Vancouver’s Rogers Arena was packed to the rafters as fans eagerly awaited the arrival of Canadian pop-punk princess Avril Lavigne on her Greatest Hits Tour. The sold-out show was a testament to Lavigne’s enduring appeal and the lasting impact of her music, 22 years after releasing Let Go.
The evening started off with electrifying sets from American pop-punk bands Royal and The Serpent, one of Lavigne’s favourite artist, and All Time Low, who was touring with Lavigne for the first time despite talking about it for years. Both bands set the perfect tone for what was to come.

Around 9:20pm, the lights dimmed to play an intro video of Lavigne’s career, and the thirty-something audience (with more Sk8er Dads than Sk8er Bois) erupted in cheers, transported back to the early 2000s.
Avril Lavigne took the stage in her signature style, blending punk rock aesthetics with a pop sensibility. Dressed in a black leather skirt and pink/black top adorned with patches, she looked every bit the rock star. Opening with the nostalgic “Girlfriend,” the crowd sang along to every word. She shared how special being in Vancouver was, as one of her first ever shows was at the iconic Commodore Ballroom when she was 17.
The setlist was a well-curated mix of her biggest hits and beloved classics, spanning her two-decade career. “My Happy Ending” and “I’m with You” showcased her vocal prowess and emotional depth, while tracks like “Bite Me”and “Don’t Tell Me” brought a playful, rebellious energy to the night. Each song was met with enthusiastic cheers and fervent sing-alongs. A standout moment was “Fake As Hell” where Lavigne invited All Time Low back on stage as well as two star trucks fans who could not believe their luck.
Throughout the night, Lavigne moved effortlessly between rocking out with her band and engaging with the audience, often pausing to share stories and express her gratitude for their unwavering support.
The evening culminated with a rousing performance of “Sk8er Boi,” perfectly encapsulates Lavigne‘s career and the spirit of the night. As confetti rained down and the final chords rang out, the crowd erupted in a thunderous ovation, refusing to let the night end.
Avril Lavigne returned to the stage for a final encore, delivering a powerful performance of “Head Above Water” where the audience’s phone lights created a sea of twinkling stars, and ending with the iconic “I’m With You”. As she took her final bow, the applause was deafening, a fitting end to a night that celebrated not just her greatest hits, but the remarkable journey of an artist who has remained true to herself and her music.
Overall, Avril Lavigne‘s concert at Rogers Arena was a triumphant celebration of her career, filled with nostalgia, emotion, and pure rock energy. It was a night to remember for all in attendance. She will be touring all across North American including Ottawa (Aug 14), Toronto (Aug 16), Saint-Jean-Sur-Richelieu (Aug 17), Winnipeg (Sept 14), Edmonton (Sept 16) and Calgary (Sept 18) so make sure to get a ticket to this amazing tour!
