British indie-rock band Yellow Days performed in Toronto on Saturday night at The Opera House in support of their latest LP titled HOTEL HEAVEN.
This most recent trek across North America would bring them back to Toronto since 2018. The opening slot for the show was filled by the band The Jack Moves and artist Lex Fransche which musically has a similar sound to Yellow Days.
The theming of HOTEL HEAVEN was on display at the Opera House as actress Hannah Chinn played the role of the hotel concierge bringing some additional entertainment and comic relief to the stage. A hotel desk with a lamp light was set up on the right side of the stage which was used during a few skits between songs. Hannah Chinn would provide antics such as blowing bubbles, holding a fishing pole into the crowd, answering the desk phone, and taking shots of alcohol with some of the bandmates.
The night’s soundtrack consisted of a mix of new songs off the latest LP such as “MRS MOONLIGHT” as well as some old classics like “Your Hand Holding Mine” and the regular fan favorite “Gap in the Clouds” which is probably the band’s most famous song.
Lead singer George Van Den Broek has certainly matured visually and musically since his debut in music back in 2016 but was as soulful as ever. It will be very interesting to see what Yellow Days does in the coming years as this group amounts more fans and interest internationally.
