Kingston Hip-Hop artist ShizNick kicked off the Mother’s Day show at the Broom Factory with his own blend of humour and rap. Know. With crowd favourites like “So White” ShizNick showed his ability to entertain.
Next up came Robbie G with a high-energy set to keep the audience entertained. Born and raised in Guelph, Ontario Robbie G shared his story about how, after serving a brief prison sentence, he was able to turn his life around and put all of his focus into music. He has worked hard, touring extensively, putting out albums, and developing both his own label and production company (R-Evolution Media and Robbie G presents – the mastermind behind the Canadian dates on this tour).
Obie Trice rolled in late, and although he opened with (a personal favourite) “Got Some Teeth” it quickly became apparent that Obie was not in his top form stating he was inebriated. To our disappointment, he left the stage after only a handful of songs, mumbling apologies for his tardiness.
Despite being down to two members, D12’s Kuniva and Swifty McVay showed they could still entertain alongside DJ Invisible. Their set was full of skits and drama, with the show coming to a complete halt when a fight broke out. After the offending parties were ejected,Kuniva and Swifty joked that they felt like they were back in Detroit, and asked why the melee hadn’t broken out during “Fight Song” In all, this was everything you could expect from a Hip-Hop show – we heard our favourite songs, there was drama and most importantly, we were entertained!
