Mallory Johnson releases her new single “f*ck that” marking the first release from her sophomore project
On May 3, multi-award-winning, Nashville-based singer-songwriter Mallory Johnson stepped into a bold new era of music when she dropped her poignant new single “f*ck that” which spills her raw and honest truth. This tune is her first release from her upcoming project with producer Andrew Petroff (Meg McRee, Sheryl Crow).
Beyond serving as a poignant commentary on relationships, society, and the industry, “f*ck that” embodies this genre-bending artist’s (with a distinctive alternative-country flair) evolution as a songwriter and storyteller. She fearlessly sheds the confines of her comfort zone, embracing a bold and audacious approach to her craft. Johnson’s unapologetic stance reflects her unwavering belief in her creative potential.
Johnson says,
“I’m getting more comfortable with being uncomfortable and it’s fun to explore that. I’m becoming more experimental with my art and as a result, I’m finding more joy in creating it. Ironically, caring less has made me care more than ever.“f*ck that” came from a place of defeat and disappointment. In early 2023, I was going through a particularly rough time professionally as well as some weird things personally. In the midst of all that, I had a writing session with my good pal Brian Donkers who really gave me a safe space to vent and unload what was on my mind and my heart. I had a lot of pent-up emotions that I didn’t wanna carry anymore and it felt good to finally release them.”
