MVLGRAVE IS SET TO PLAY DECIMATE METALFEST
Get ready to headbang! Anticipating their upcoming sophomore release, Mvlgrave brings forth a storm of crushing riff-oriented groovy death metal brutality.
Hailing from East Van and featuring past members of Nylithia, Pyramidion, Aggression, and Over The Coals, this band is set to unleash an onslaught of pure metal power!
First off, care to introduce yourselves to our readers?
Hi! We are Mvlgrave, from Vancouver, BC. We formed in the wake of the pandemic, consisting of members who have been playing in the Vancouver metal scene for 10 – 20 years.
Tell us a bit about your latest release.
Our debut EP is available everywhere. Our first LP is currently in production, and set for release this summer!
How did you react when you heard you were chosen to play Decimate Metalfest?
It’s always fun to absorb the atmosphere of a metal festival, as a performer or an attendee. We’re thrilled to crush a devastating set along with an epic lineup of bands for our first time bringing Mvlgrave to Alberta!
As a band, how important is it for you to perform at festivals like Decimate, where diversity and inclusion are celebrated, including featuring youth bands?
The importance of diversity and inclusion can’t be overstated. We’re excited to check out all of the performers.
Have you had the chance to check out the lineup for Decimate Metalfest, and if so, are there any bands you’re particularly excited to see perform?
Of course! Many familiar names and lots of new music to experience. One that stands out is our good friends in Aggression, who will be shredding Saturday night!
How does your band approach crafting a setlist for a festival like Decimate Metalfest, considering the range of bands and genres represented in the lineup?
We will be showcasing our sound with some brand new material we have yet to perform live!
In a festival setting, where the artists are so varied, it’s an opportunity to just go do our own thing. Where we can let things flow naturally rather than embrace more specific vibes associated with a particular show.
Last but not least, what advice do you have for metal bands just starting out?
Do it for you! Your art should be something that remains enjoyable to create with people you trust. When you love what you do, that authenticity shines through beautifully!
