Brittany Kennell shares video for “Pink Collar”

Brittany Kennell releases music video in support of her new album Pink Collar

Montreal singer-songwriter Brittany Kennell unveils the music video for the title track of her new album Pink Collar (released on April 12th) The track, co-written by Brittany Kennell and Nathan Meckel, highlights the hard work of women across generations and the right to independence in love, personal and professional life. The music video, directed by Charles-William de Melo and assisted by Forêt Sauvage Films on cinematography, features a group of women who decide to conquer Mars after learning that scientists have discovered it to pink and not red!

Released on March 8 for International Women’s Day, the song “Pink Collar” is a true ode to all women who are overworked, and underpaid and who must double their efforts to have the same equality as their male counterparts. “Pink Collar” aims to remind women of their incredible resilience and encourage them to persevere in their fight.

On a track that combines fierce country rock à la Miranda Lambert with the spirit of Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5, Pink Collar’s music video begins with women performing stereotypical housework in order to illustrate their lack of freedom and power. The housework of course pokes fun at the conventionalized chores with one woman vacuuming the lawn, another watering the laundry, and the last one ironing pancakes. Following the breaking news of scientists discovering Mars to be pink instead of red, the group prepares to conquer the planet and imagine a new world of infinite possibilities where the place of women would be recognized in an egalitarian state.
