MAPLE MOUNTAIN SUNBURST RELEASES “POP-A-MATIC” SINGLE + MUSIC VIDEO FROM NEW ALBUM ECSTATIC OUT ON MAY 17
Andy McNeill, the composer, and multi-instrumentalist better known as Maple Mountain Sunburst, shares the next single, “Pop-a-matic”, from his upcoming album, Ecstatic, out on May 17.
The Pop-a-matic video features the work of Tel-Aviv-based illustrator Ori Toor. He describes his work as “creating freestyle worlds for you (and me) to get lost in”.
Speaking of the video, McNeill says,
“I discovered Ori when I noticed an incredible illustration of his on the front page of The New York Times. I saw he’d been regularly posting these fantastic trippy gifs as part of a series he called ‘loopisms’. It was a perfect match for this weird sort of astrofunk track “Pop-a-matic”. I reached out to Ori and he kindly permitted me to use his work for a video.” The result is a strangely enchanting trip — lysergic pop-a-matic dream fuel.
On the video, Toor says,
“It feels like a beautiful tribute to these animation pieces of mine and I think the track is just incredible!”
