LEAF RAPIDS RELEASE LONG-AWAITED NEW ALBUM VELVET PAINTINGS

Watch The Video For New Single, “Velvet Paintings”

Roots Americana band Leaf Rapids release their long-awaited new album, Velvet Paintings, via Mile 33 Records. Hailing from Winnipeg, the group, comprised of Keri Latimer (songwriter, acoustic guitar, lead vocals, theremin), Devin Latimer (bass guitar), Joanna Miller (drums, supporting vocals, whistling), and Chris Dunn (electric guitar) are thrilled to celebrate the new album with a run of spring dates – which kicked off with a hometown show.

The album features nine new songs, co-produced by John Paul Peters and Keri Latimer, including previously released tracks “Starling to a Starling,” “Night Shift,” “Silver Fillings,” & “Fast Romantics.”

To coincide with the release of the album they’re sharing the album track “Velvet Painting,” along with a new video.

“This song came out of the air pretty much formed, the thoughts had been running around the dark part of my head for awhile but finally came up for air,” says songwriter Keri. “It’s really hard to justify doing day-to-day things in a surreal world where people get so wound up they can explode rounds of bullets at other humans because they have the right, and somebody’s making a buck to boot. Once, when I was taking my dog for a walk, he had a jaunty step that made me think, smugly to myself, ‘Either he doesn’t realize he is on a leash, or he has decided to forget.’ Then I realized, we’re kind of all like that.”
