First off, care to introduce yourself to our readers?

Yes! I’m Jolene Harnish a Canadian Country Recording Artist and very excited to be completing my 6 song EP this month!

You’ve unveiled your single, “Eat The Cake.” What inspired this song?

Oh, man! A lot of things inspired this song! This song is the song I needed to write! I NEVER took the time to celebrate any of my accomplishments throughout my life.. big or small.. I just moved on to the next .. and I was actually uncomfortable celebrating myself which I didn’t even realize until my new colleague at the time .. turned friend pointed it out. From then on, I decided to get uncomfortable and start celebrating my achievements and inviting people to join me – I then found out that a lot of other people were the same, and it inspired the song.

Can you walk us through the creative process behind the song, from its inception to the final production?

I keep notes of all my thoughts and themes on my phone. I went into the write with my Co-Writer Roberta Michelle with this theme and the inspiration behind it – we talked it out and then the fun began! My passion for Cake leads the way! Hahaha – Man I really love cake

“Eat The Cake” has a positive and inspiring message. What do you hope listeners take away from the song?

I hope the listener gets inspired to do the things! And celebrate themselves and their achievements – I also hope it makes people want to get up and move! And as well, learn a bit more about me and see my fun side.

You’ve been compared to legends like Shania Twain and Patty Loveless. How do you feel about these comparisons, and who are your biggest musical influences?

Beyond flattered and inspired. These two amazing artists sing and write from their hearts. Honest and fierce and I love it. I have so many influences it’s hard to name them all. I love what women are doing in Country Music and if I can be even some small part of that it would be amazing.

What’s next for you after the release of “Eat The Cake”? Do you have any upcoming projects or plans for future releases?

I’m so excited to say that I’m finishing up my 6 song EP this month! I’m so beyond proud of the project – it’s 100% me, part of my story. I have grown so much over the past two years working on the EP – I can not wait to get it out there. I’ve been having a blast performing – besides my recording career I’m also a member of the band Rugged Lace and we keep pretty busy.

Last but not least, I have to ask, what’s your favorite cake to eat? 🙂

hahaha ALL cake but if I had to narrow it down to just one? I love a good ol’ fashion white birthday cake.. my Mamma is quite the baker and she made me one from scratch last year – OMG it was amazing!!! Here’s a fun fact – I’m big on Birthdays and think the cake and making a wish while blowing out your candles is a very important tradition. One year I didn’t get a birthday cake on my birthday – and everyone knew how unhappy I was about this lol … so much so that on my birthday the following year, I got 5 of them!! And yes … I ate them all with a little help, of course, haha!
