MINT SIMON PENS LETTER TO THEIR ANXIETY ON NEW SINGLE “LOST MY MIND” AND ANNOUNCES MONTREAL SHOW WITH BRIGHT LIGHT BRIGHT LIGHT ON APRIL 26th
Montreal’s pop prince Mint Simon shares their new single, “Lost My Mind,” an 80s-inspired synth-heavy track that they wrote as a letter to their anxiety.
“It’s a panic attack in a song, with all the ebbs and flows of what that feels like for me, and I wanted to capture some of the fear with a lot of the letting go,” shares Mint. “This anxiety, which stemmed from a pretty rough bout of depression, got in the way of me being able to create & continue forward with my project, and I had to really put things on pause. Through a lot of work over the last year, I feel ready (both excited and scared) to release new music and be more open about what I went through.”
“Lost My Mind” is connected to Mint’s anxious thoughts and the way that turned into a mental breakdown and one of the scariest times of their life. “I feel grateful to be able to turn it into art now and share the song with the world, especially with anyone who struggles in this way.” They also announced an upcoming Montreal show at Theatre Fairmount with Bright Light Bright Light – tickets are available here.
Mint teamed up with co-writer and producer Ballsy.
“Working with her is, as always, a dream,” shares Mint. “We focused heavily on synthesizers and took inspiration from the sounds of the 80s. It’s the most synth-wave song from my upcoming releases, but it still carries the modern pop elements I was aspiring for.”
Mint re-recorded the vocals more times than on any other song; they really wanted to capture the emotion behind the stress and panic.
