Simon Clow and Teigen Gayse Celebrate Hometown Roots With New Song, “Gravel & Smoke”
Simon Clow returns today with the electrifying new song “Gravel & Smoke,” featuring rising country powerhouse Teigen Gayse, released via 604 Records.
“Gravel & Smoke” captures the essence of small-town living, inspired by Clow’s upbringing in Hanna, Alberta. Clow’s connection to Hanna is evident throughout the song, making it a beautiful reflection on his past and a tribute to the town that shaped him.
“Growing up in a small town, there wasn’t much to do but cruise down gravel roads with diesel tractor dust and smoke rising off the fields around us,” says Clow. “We all had big dreams but were faced with the realities of life getting in the way. For many that meant staying in our hometown and living a more simplistic, yet beautiful life.”
The multi-BCCMA-winning Clow first met Gayse last year and they instantly felt a creative connection. Along with Chad Kroeger, the trio wrote what would eventually become the first Top 30 radio hit for Gayse, “If You Show Me Yours,” and then put the final pieces together for “Gravel & Smoke.”
“Teigen really brought the song to life,” says Clow. “I’m so proud of how far she has come over the last year and see nothing but great success for her.”
“Gravel & Smoke” follows last summer’s “Once Upon A Bar,” the first song Clow released using his own name, having previously been known as Kadooh throughout his career as both a solo artist and member of the multi-platinum band State of Shock.
