Indigenous roots-rocker, Adrian Sutherland, is set to release his album, Precious Diamonds, on Friday, March 15, with two release shows – Toronto on March 14th at The Cameron House, and March 22nd in Ottawa at NAC’s Fourth Stage.
Adrian was born and raised in Canada’s Far North – Attawapiskat First Nation on James Bay. The lead-off single from the album, “Notawe (Father),” which was released in August 2023 was the very first release that Adrian wrote and recorded in his first language, Omushkegowuk Cree, and one of the two Cree songs on the album.
Adrian has released three more singles leading up to the March 15th release – “Precious” (released in October 2023), “Diamonds” (released in October 2023), and “My Rebel Spirit” (released in January).
In June 2023, Adrian worked for the second time with expat-Canadian producer and legendary guitarist Colin Linden to record his sophomore solo album in Nashville. The ten tracks on Precious Diamonds were brought to life by a stellar list of musicians, with Jim Hoke on saxophones, Jeff Taylor on accordion and dulceola, Gary Craig on drums and percussion, JerryRoe on drums, John Dymondon bass, and Janice Powers on B3 organ.
Colin contributed on acoustic, electric, resonator, 12-string, Dobro, and bass guitars, as well as vocals and harmonies. The album was mastered in Edgewater, NewJersey by multi-Grammy-awarded Greg Calbi and Steve Fallone, and will be released March 15, 2024.
