BREAKTHROUGH ARTIST SOFIA CAMARA SHARES HEARTBREAKING NEW BALLAD “WHO DO I CALL NOW? (HELLBENT)”
Breakthrough singer-songwriter Sofia Camara releases her first new single of the year, “Who Do I Call Now? (Hellbent)” via Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company, and 21 Entertainment. One of the most promising Canadian artists on the rise, Sofia’s teasers of the song have amassed over 11 million views across social platforms. For months, fans have been asking for the track’s official release, and today, Sofia shares the full version, available everywhere.
The powerful heartbreak ballad was produced by Nate Ferraro (Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Carly Rae Jepsen) and Mike Wise (Ellie Goulding, Alessia Cara, Chappell Roan) and co-written with Ferraro, Wise, and Lowell (Beyoncé, Tate McRae, Madison Beer). Ferraro and Lowell also co-wrote Beyoncé’s latest single “Texas Hold ‘Em,” which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and is currently at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. This is the fourth single released by Sofia Camara via Universal Music Canada, following last year’s “Different” and “Something Better,” and the pop-rock anthem “Never Be Yours” from 2022. Her first single released via Universal Music Canada, “Never Be Yours” was a success story at Canadian radio, peaking at #19 on the Top 40 charts, and reaching #22 and #34 on the Hot AC and Main AC charts respectively.
“Who Do I Call Now? (Hellbent)” is a captivating and relatable story of a toxic relationship coming to an end, with one partner experiencing heartache and yearning for reconciliation, convincing herself that she would rather endure the lows of their love than the loneliness of their breakup. “So, who do I call now? I’d give it all now, just to be fighting in the kitchen, hearing the sound of broken dishes, thought it was bad then, this heartache is hellbent,” sings Sofia. She ends the chorus with a plea, “I’d do anything for you to yell at me, you left so quietly, but your silence is deafening.”
“The process of writing this song is one I will never forget,” says Sofia Camara. “It brought me so much joy, while still healing from the hurt. I wanted this song to express the pains of such a deep love that you watched crumble in front of your eyes. A moment you never thought would come and when it all fell apart, you ended up losing a part of yourself. That’s the thing about love… you give so much of yourself without knowing what you’ll be left with when it ends, but things get better. You just need to be patient.”
