City and Colour, Nathaniel Rateliff & the night sweats
February 22nd, 2024
Place Bell, Laval, QC
Tonight, Montrealers braved the cold to head to Laval for a night of soft night of indie with City and Colour!
Following an opening set by Ruby Water, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats took to the stage. We had fond memories of his rain-soaked set at the Montreal Jazz Festival back in 2022, and while it was dry over our heads in the arena, the magic operated just as well!
We didn’t get to see City and Colour play in Montreal since Osheaga 2019. Dallas Green of course came to play with Alexisonfire several times (the last being opening for Avenged Sevenfold at the Bell Center last summer), but the vibes were obviously much different with the punk-rock band! Tonight, the music was soft, and the lyrics deep and intimate, taking the crowd on an introspective and hypnotizing journey. It is always truly impressive to see the duality in Green’s performances, being able to juggle the two genres that seem at opposites.
And for those who can’t get enough of City and Colour, as well as Alexisonfire, the two bands are co-headlining the Born & Raised festival in St Catharines later this summer!
