The English/American rock duo known as The Kills made their long-awaited return to Toronto on February 20th, 2024 for the ‘God Games Tour’.
The show took place at the Danforth Music Hall and was the band’s first appearance in Toronto in almost 8 years. Coincidently the last time The Kills played in Toronto in May of 2016 it was also at the Danforth Music Hall so the band should be very familiar with the venue.
The show was opened by American punk/pop band The Paranoyds who have been touring North America as the special guest.
The Kills are currently on the road for their first major tour since the end of the COVID-19 lockdown in 2022. The group is promoting their new album titled God Games which was released last October. This musical power team would go on to play a steady mix of new songs like “New York” along with some old classics like “Black Balloon”.
Some would describe the band’s music uniquely as “romance rock” which if I had to guess would be because of the pair’s strong chemistry in their music and on-stage performance. Lead guitarist Jamie Hince and lead singer Alison Mosshart have been playing together in this band for over 20 years and after seeing them play live it was clear they have only gotten better with time.
