Canadian indie-pop darling Cassie Dasilva is ringing in the new year with new music and a new music video.
Cassie Dasilva has unveiled her latest single, “Part of the Club,” is a vibrant and optimistic addition to her catalogue — a song that Dasilva calls her “anti-love love song.”
“I’ve always had an aversion to conventional relationships – specifically marriage – but this song is about finding the person who makes you stop and think, ‘I can see why people might do all this.’” Dasilva confesses in a press release.
Diving below the surface of past cynicism, the single takes fans on a journey through her thoughts and revelations around love and commitment, with lyrics that captivate. Dasilva returned to the studio with JUNO-award-winning producer Hill Kourkoutis. While it may be a new year, she’s still committed to building a female-fronted team around her career.
In addition to the single, the music video for “Part of the Club” was released as a companion to the song’s compelling narrative.
“The video is a fun depiction of how I’ve felt traditional relationship norms being forced on me over the years. In the last chorus of the song, everything is deconstructed/ wheeled off set, and we’re left with an empty stage as I walk off into the darkness with my boyfriend. It reflects that we can do our own thing and it can be whatever we want it to be without all the fuss and pressure.” says Dasilva.
