Anna Goldsmith – Five Questions With

Anna Goldsmith encourages us to not “Let Love Go” with her anthemic new pop-punk single

Coming into her third year of releasing music, Anna Goldsmith opens her 2024 catalogue in emphatic fashion with this euphoric, uplifting new pop punk anthem ‘Let Love Go’ – an idyllic blend of indie rock influences fused with that distinguished pop punk vocal and thrashy chorus guitars accompanying an incessantly catchy hook that’ll be reverberating around your head for hours on end. Upbeat yet underpinned with angsty themes and lyricism, ‘Let Love Go,’ draws inspiration from Anna’s real-life experiences with love and a crush she had; unsure whether or not to tell them or not, the delirium and over-analysis of every interaction pushed Anna to convey her feelings into the form of song. This raw, unequivocally authentic track was recorded at Mix11 Studios in Ontario, Canada and the instrumental composition and production is credited to the talented Jan Jansen. With the intention of making a universally relatable track, Anna truly achieved her goal in spades – ‘Let Love Go’ serves as Anna’s ideal way to start 2024.

At the age of just 16, Anna Goldsmith is already an emerging, formidable force in the music industry who is carving her path as a multi-instrumentalist and a lyrical maestro. Anna’s journey is one defined by her passion for music, unwavering talent, and a commitment to spreading messages of kindness, hope, and confidence through her vibrant pop-punk and rock compositions. From an early age, Anna displayed an innate musical prowess, developed by vocal lessons at the age of 9. Fueling her creative spirit, she turned to poetry which allowed her to eventually weave her words into soulful and resonant songs. Anna’s musical portfolio boasts four original songs to date, each reflective of her evolving artistry. “Shine,” her debut, showcases her lyrical prowess and vocal talents, produced by the acclaimed Chris Birkett, known for his work with Sinead O’Connor. Following this, “Follower,” “Miracle,” and “Go” are all expressions of Anna’s creativity as both lyricist and vocalist, produced by Jan Jansen. Specializing in crafting pop-punk and rock anthems, Anna’s music serves as a platform for spreading positive messages. Her songs are ornamented with themes of kindness, hope, and confidence, reflecting her own values and aspirations for a better world. Anna’s electrifying live performances are marked by her high-energy presence on stage. She has graced iconic venues such as the legendary El Mocambo in Toronto, known for hosting the Rolling Stones, and the Chelsea Music Hall in the heart of New York City. For Anna, the stage is not just a platform for her art; it’s a space to share joy and ensure her audience is having as much fun as she is. With a promising future ahead, Anna has truly established herself as a force to be reckoned with in the world of pop-punk and rock.

First off, care to introduce yourself to our readers?

Hi! I am a 16-year-old singer and songwriter from just north of Toronto. I am in grade 11, I love to dance and ski, and my favourite colour is pink – although I hardly have any pink clothing. My favourite thing in the world is being on stage and performing for an audience!

Tell us a bit about your most recent release.

“Let Love Go” is different from my previous releases because it is about a crush I had, and the anxiety and over-analysis I felt about it. Should I tell them or not? Would this crush turn into an obsession? I think it is very relatable, and I want people to know that it’s okay to be yourself, to share your feelings, and everything always happens for a reason and turns out okay in the end.

Do you have any upcoming shows you’d like to tell us about?

I am so pumped to be performing this year at Wintersong 2024!  It is January 19-20th in Stouffville, and is a free music festival with over 100 artists! https://wintersong.ca

If given the chance, which Canadian artist would you love to work with in the future?

I would absolutely love to work with METRIC or Alanis Morrisette!! They rock and I love their music styles, and it would be so much fun to work together.

What’s your goal for 2024?

In 2024 I want to build my audience so that I can have my own show!
