Parvati The Art Pixie is the artist name of Parvati Kumari, a transgender and disabled artist from Brampton, Ontario.

She has released her debut album and book, Hum Ek Hain on Bandcamp, as well as an EP, We Are Alive, as a dedication to the trans women Brianna Ghey and Eden Knight, two of the many trans women killed this year.

The EP, We Are Alive features six songs, beginning with the mesmerizing instrumental track “Deep Breaths.” This breathtaking composition skillfully captures the intricate emotions tied to the struggles and resilience of the trans community. The music dynamically ebbs and flows, mirroring the highs and lows of the emotional spectrum. Every note is purposeful, contributing to a narrative that transcends musical boundaries and invites a universal understanding of the collective human experience. “Deep Breaths” sets the stage for a musical journey that is both powerful and emotionally resonant.

The title track, “We Are Alive,” the title track, is an intense instrumental masterpiece, a profound tribute to the countless trans women lost this year. The title itself resonates as a poignant reminder that memories endure through the strength and unity of the trans community. Utilizing instrumental storytelling, the composition becomes a visceral space for both mourning and empowerment. “We Are Alive” goes beyond mere music; it’s a deeply emotional and thought-provoking homage, echoing the voices and stories of those no longer with us.

Overall, these two tracks, along with the four others, “Ochre,” “Eden #4,” “Never Let You Go,” and “The Angels Sing For Her” is not just a piece of music; it is a deeply emotional and thought-provoking homage that echoes the voices and stories of those who are no longer with us.
