On Friday, December 8, the 29-year-old singer-songwriter from Montreal, Charlotte Cardin, graced the stage at the Light House Arts Centre in Halifax to play the first of two sold-out shows in Halifax as part of her 99 Nights Tour. These performances held an added layer of magic, as they stood as the songstress’s final tour dates before Christmas.
Opening for Charlotte Cardin was Devon Cole – an indie pop singer-songwriter who hails from Calgary but is now based in Toronto. With her cute and infectious energy, Devon’s set was all about spreading self-empowerment and positivity. As she took the stage, Devon immediately captured the crowd’s attention with her catchy tunes and relatable lyrics. With each song–including “Good on Me,” “July for the Whole Year” and TikTok viral “W.I.T.C.H.”–Devon’s good vibes radiated throughout the venue, creating an atmosphere of self-love and acceptance.
As the lights dimmed and the stage came alive, Charlotte Cardin appeared, exuding an effortless coolness that immediately commanded the audience’s attention. Opening her set with “Looping” and “Meaningless,” she demonstrated her unique blend of pop, jazz, and electronic sounds. The setlist was a perfect mix of old favourites and new tracks from her recently released album 99 Nights, each one delivered with a raw, emotional intensity that left the crowd hanging on every word. “Anyone Who Loves Me,” “Daddy’s a Psycho,” “Sex to Me,” “Main Girl” and “Confetti” were a few definite highlights. The seamless blend of genres, from pop to electro to jazz, showcased the versatility that has become Charlotte’s signature.
Charlotte Cardin’s mesmerizing voice and heartfelt lyrics have garnered her a dedicated fan base that continues to grow with each passing day. She is an effortlessly chic artist who’s making Montreal and Canada proud and proving that good music and killer style are a match made in heaven.
