The Glorious Sons & The Bluestones

The Glorious Sons rocked their way through Edmonton on “The Glory Tour” on Friday, November 17. Backed by Windsor locals The Bluestones, the high-energy rock n’ roll show held at the Edmonton Convention Centre (formerly the Shaw Conference Centre) entertained nearly 2500 rabid fans.
The Bluestones kicked off the first set of the night, a super entertaining blues-rock duo consisting of guitarist/vocalist Tarek Jafar (also bass, keys) and Justin Tessier on drums/backing vocals. Hammering out a 10-song set, the pair were super animated and looked to be having an absolute blast. The crowd was loving it too, and The Bluestones seemed to be a perfect fit for the tour.
When The Glorious Sons took the stage, the energy in the room exploded. Their high-energy, blues-based, old-school nod to early southern rock greats fueled many singalongs, with the crowd screaming along the words to “Sawed-off Shotgun” and many others. The departure of founding guitar and vocalist Chris Koster has not slowed the band at all, and the Sons delivered a 20-plus song set that lasted almost 2 hours. The sound was phenomenal, the band’s energy was top-shelf, and although they’re not really my usual taste, I had a great friggin time.
