Tonight, NYC Rock legends KISS popped by Montreal for one last goodbye show! Their End Of The Road Tour’s previous leg included a stop at the Bell Center in 2019, but Montreal fans were so thrilled to find out they would get to bid the band farewell again 4 years later!
With a set similar to last time’s, the foursome ascended from the sky under a rain of sparkles, setting a very high bar for the rest of the show. And they effortlessly met that bar the whole evening! From the crazy makeup and costumes, to the insane stage setup and pyrotechnics, KISS wowed the audience as they went through a setlist of their biggest hits! From opener Detroit Rock City, to closing track Rock and Roll All Nite without forgetting the smash hit I Was Made for Loving You, the band covered an impressive 50 years of discography without a miss.
There’s also something to be said about each band members’ stage presence. Gene, Paul, Tommy and Eric are all between their 60s and 70s, but yet all prance, pose and shred around the stage with the energy of a bunch of 20-somethings!! And major kudos to Simmons, the eldest of the group at 74, for doing it all perched on vertiginous platform boots no one else could rock without rolling an ankle!
The night was fun, explosive, and some good old-fashioned rock and roll! A perfect goodbye to a band that shaped the genre, and we are secretly hoping the band might add just one last leg to the tour four years from now!
