Singer-Songwriter, Producer & Multi-Instrumentalist Pranatricks Releases New Single
Pranatricks has unveiled his new single “Birds and the Bees.” from his sophomore album Elements of, which is set to be released on April 4, 2024,
Pranatricks continues to release music at a blistering pace. This is his 16th song released in under two years. It is a romantic indie rock and alternative ode that explores a fictional world of fantasy, love, and primal instinct.
Led by a doubled vocal line over top of an electric guitar the narrative unfolds to reveal a love story rooted in misunderstanding and an attempt to reconcile the character’s differences through the passion that they share. Adding a Rhodes piano, drums, percussion, and several synth lines the relentless attraction concludes with a lustful twist.
The track then ventures into the abstraction of several layered synth arpeggios that build around a chorus of horns to bring about a devotional quality meant to be revered in all intimate relationships.
The song was written back in 2011 with many of the parts were recorded in several home studio spaces throughout the City of Vancouver. Finally, the trumpets were added earlier this year by Anthony Shackell in Pranatricks’ studio in the Comox Valley.
Review
In “Birds and the Bees,” the song kicks off with pondering forgotten moments and the struggle to understand a past encounter, symbolized by shaping hands into a flower. The recurring “OOOOHHHH, OOOOHHHH” refrain adds a hauntingly beautiful musical layer, intensifying the emotional impact of the narrative.
The next part shifts perspective, delving into the idea of different lives or dimensions. It whimsically describes being like a cat chasing a bird without wings, suggesting missed chances and the complexity of relationships. The quiet cat and the mysterious line “I’m going to lick you to death” create an intriguing atmosphere, hinting at something big about to happen.
To sum it up, “Birds and the Bees” spins a mesmerizing tale using creative language and metaphors, set against a folk rock backdrop that amplifies the emotional depth of the lyrics, creating a truly wow-worthy experience.
