On October 3, 2023, the Gussapolooza Music Festival announced their 2023 Award Recipients.
The Emerging Young Artist of the Year award celebrates the youthful promise of talents, shaping the future of the music industry. The award recipient for 2023 was none other than Barrie, ON’s Brigitte Eve.
First off, congratulations on being a recipient of an award at Gussapolooza Music Awards 2023. How did you react when you found out?
It was Like WOW me! Super excited to find out I won the award for up-and-coming artist, and all I could say was thank you so much to Gussapolooza 2023 for choosing me. My brain almost stopped working. I was so excited and overjoyed. This now means I will be playing the main stage and it feels totally awesome.
How does it feel to be among some amazing talent as an award recipient?
There was so much talent all weekend, but there were 2 bands that really stood out to me, 1 of them was Fortunate Losers who were named band of the year 2023 at Gussapolooza & the other favorite was The Manic Boys and Girls Club, their stage presence, their performance was super original, many different instruments and sounds.
What was the highlight of Gussapolooza 2023 for you?
My highlight from Gussapolooza 2023 was bringing friends, and family to the event to listen to other artists. Able to be myself while hanging in the artist tent with a super cool band “ Ashley & the band Major Flavour” dancing while they jammed was unforgettable. Lastly, of course, were all the food vendors, I loved trying all the different foods I wanted to try at every food stand I could.
If you return next year, what, if anything would you change about your performance?
I would like to have more musicians on stage with me, like my new drummer, piano & bass included in my set list made of entirely original songs.
Last but not least, what’s up next for you in 2023 and into 2024?
To continue making music videos for the songs that are currently out, make more originals, and play live gigs all through Ontario.
