On October 3, 2023, the Gussapolooza Music Festival announced their 2023 Award Recipients.
The Spirit of Guss Award honours those who embody the festival’s essence, elevating the experience for all attendees. The award recipient for 2023 is Toronto’s Devious One.
First off, congratulations on being a recipient of an award at Gussapolooza Music Awards 2023. How did you react when you found out?
Receiving the “Spirit Of Guss” award was a distinct honor. This achievement is a source of great pride and an esteemed addition to my growing list of accolades.
How does it feel to be among some amazing talent as an award recipient?
It’s great…Russ and Val really go above and beyond to not only find all these amazing artists but also put on a very well-organized event.
What was the highlight of Gussapolooza 2023 for you?
The people for sure…everyone is so friendly and supportive.
If you return next year, what, if anything would you change about your performance?
I would definitely add new songs to the setlist and improve on-stage presence and crowd participation.
Last but not least, what’s up next for you in 2023 and into 2024?
Well, I always have new music coming out but as well as wear many hats in the music industry. To name a few, I work at a vinyl record pressing plant and do some vinyl brokering on the side, have a promotional business and as well as just started a new passion project bringing back Much Music’s RapCity. We film Indie Rotation in collaboration with The Indie Distributor, The 400 Market, Indie Canada(Ryan MacIntyre Films), and New Music Tuesday.
