Hamilton, ON-based singer-songwriter Isabella Chiarini started exploring her passion for music when she was 8 years old and began taking singing lessons with renowned vocal coach and author, Teresa Nocita. From there, she set off to achieve her goals at full speed, participating in singing contests, going for auditions, and eventually getting signed by a development company in Nashville called PCG Universal. It was at this point that she completely fell in love with the music process and took various classes in songwriting, stage presence, and confidence-building. Through PCG Universal, she released my first few singles and music videos, which made her realize she could turn this fiery passion into a career.
Fast forward to today, she writes and releases her songs in Canada, co-writing with Teresa Nocita and the 2007 winner of Canadian Idol, Brian Melo.
“My main priority with music is to be my authentic self every step of the way, and to empower my listeners, which I do so by writing about my personal experiences in hopes that people out there can relate in some way. Life is filled with pressures and challenges, but music is a healing outlet where I can turn things around to create fun, uplifting songs for my audience and for myself. With a lot of my audience being young adults, I hope my songs inspire them to love and believe in themselves.”
Today, Isabella releases her brand new single, “Love Me Not.” But before we get to that, let’s take a journey down memory lane, through her ten biggest milestones, so far.
Starting singing lessons
When I was little I would always sing around the house, and in the shower so when I was 7 years old my dad put me into singing lessons. I loved going to lessons because I had a place to sing freely and learn how to do what I loved.
First performance
The very first big performance I ever did was at a theatre in my hometown, Hamilton, Ontario for my singing studio’s annual recital. I remember being so nervous but getting up and doing it anyway. I chose to sing “Big Girls Don’t Cry” by Fergie because that was popular at the time and now I look back at that to now and cannot believe the difference.
First singing competition
A few years after starting lessons I was put into competitions. I would compete in pop and musical theatre categories. I used to look forward to these so much and spend all my lessons preparing for them.
First recording experience
Around the age of 12, I started recording cover songs. This was a great way for me to gain some experience recording and being in that environment. I loved being in the booth, to this day it is one of my favourite parts of being a singer!
Signing a development deal
When I was 14 I signed a development deal with PCG Universal In Nashville, I would travel there once a month for 2 years and learn songwriting techniques, stage presence skills, the behind-the-scenes of the music business, etc. It was a huge opportunity and I am so glad I was offered! It truly changed my life.
Releasing my first single
When I was 14 I released my first song with PCG called “Look into the Mirror”. I even made a music video. When I first started singing I never thought it would take me here, it was a huge step for me that I don’t even think I realized at the time because I was just so excited.
Performing at the Opry Mills Mall
In Nashville they have a mall directly located near the famous Opry Mills, through PCG I was given the opportunity to perform there which was very big for me at the time because I was still very nervous to get on stage but that chance was something I definitely couldn’t pass up! It was a great learning opportunity for me.
Releasing my EP
I released my first EP, Every Single Tear, in the summer of 2021. It was the first time I felt I started releasing mature music to show my listeners I am growing up and have changed from when I started my career at 14. It was a huge turning point for me and my music I’m glad I took it!!
Performing around the GTA
“This year I have really taken a leap into gigs. Before I was too afraid to go out and play, but this year I decided to change that. I have performed all over Hamilton and Toronto in places like The Dive Shop, MainStage, and Winona Peach Festival. Doing this has really boosted buy confidence and cannot wait to continue this into 2024. “
Releasing “Love Me Not”
“My latest single is about someone stuck in a toxic situation of uncertainty. Basically telling their partner you’re not living up to all the things you said you were going to do, so if you’re not willing to love me then it’s time to leave. I think that is extremely powerful because it takes a lot of courage to voice your true feelings and what you want.”
