Tonight, we had the honour of seeing Nick Cave play a sold-out Salle Wilfrid Pelletier in Montreal! The Australian singer was not accompanied by the Bad Seeds, but by Colin Greenwood (Radiohead, The Smile) who played the bass for a stripped-down show.
From the opening notes of Girl in Amber, we knew we were witnessing something very unique, as most of the rock tunes now took an whole new meaning. In this acoustic style, the emotions of violence, love and faith really shone through, as well as Cave’s incredible baritone voice which resonated through the venue like in a church.
The simple stage set up, minimal light, and stack of music sheets by the piano made it feel like an intimate late-night session, as if you were in Nick Cave’s living room late one night after a few glasses of wine. It was an absolute delight which left the crowd in awe, and a true masterclass in showmanship, demonstrating that Nick Cave really can do it all.
Nick Cave’s solo tour will be in Toronto tomorrow, before heading back to the States, For ticket and more information, visit the singer’s website!
