“Another Place” From Upcoming Album, Blurry Vision Out Now
Alternative Folk-Rock band Shred Kelly released “Another Place,” their newest single from their 6th studio album, Blurry Vision, due out on October 20th. Band member Tim Newton wrote the lyrics about the push and pull of wanting to be in another place regardless of where you are.
“When we’re on the road, we miss home, and when we’re home, we miss the experiences that travel brings. Our hearts are always in two places at once,” he says.
The band recently wrapped up an extensive Summer tour and are getting ready to hit the road with their pals Elliott BROOD on September 26th and then will venture over to Europe in November.
The band adds
“Another Place song was written one night in our jam room during a writing session. One of those cool experiences where one of us started playing a hooky riff, and then someone else added another hook and another until it morphed into one of our favourite songs on the record.” They partnered up with one of their favourite videographers, neighbour, and friend, Dylan Siggers, to help visually capture the song!
“We were super pumped to work with Dylan again on this music video,” shares Sage McBride. “We frequently work with him on our video projects because he is such a wizard when it comes to video production, and he lives next door to us, so he can’t escape! We wanted to keep the video idea simple yet effective and capture all of the fun energy that this song has. There were a lot of laughs during the making of this video especially when trying to release the small confetti cannons. We fully trusted Dylan with the concept and he delivered as always.”
Blurry Vision delves deep into the overwhelming world that surrounds us while searching for glimmers of hope. Recorded with Nygel Asselin, with whom they previously collaborated on their 2020 release Like A Rising Sun, the album reflects on the band’s ability to confront the complexities of existence with both vulnerability and resilience. Through their songs, Shred Kelly paints a picture of dark times illuminated by slivers of light.
The recording process for the 10 new songs featured on the album was an immersive and transformative experience. The band traveled to The Farm Studio in Gibsons, where they spent a week in a remote cabin, finding inspiration outside the confines of the studio. This closeness and connection fostered a truly collaborative environment, leading to the development of new song ideas and a deep bond among the band members. This holistic approach to recording, combined with the shared meals and experiences, allowed Shred Kelly to fully immerse themselves in the creative process. After years of spending time apart, this extended period of working and living together breathed new life into their music.
The album was mixed by Elisa Pangsaeng and mastered by Brock McFarlane.

“I would never have started playing the banjo if it wasn’t for Elliott BROOD. Their music and songwriting inspired me to pick up an old banjo at a thrift store in Montana back in 2008 and start songwriting,” says Tim Newton. “Later that year, I drove to Nelson from Fernie with a bunch of friends to watch their show at The Spiritbar – we were all staying above the venue and got to hang out after the show. I told them I was learning the banjo and was hosting jam nights and wanted to get a band going too. They told me something along the lines of “if you want to start a band, you should do it!”. Shortly after that, Shred Kelly was formed. We can’t wait to tour with Elliott BROOD this fall, they’re such a huge part of our story, and the best people. It feels surreal to be hitting the road together.”
