Canadian Country Artist, David Boyd Janes To Perform At The CNE September 2/3

David Boyd Janes will be performing in Toronto at the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) on September 2nd and 3rd at the Country Stage.

The performance follows David’s recently released single “Bleed Country,” written by David and hit songwriters Wes Mack and Dan Swinimer and produced by Swinimer in Vancouver, BC. It features David’s distinctive voice and impressive songwriting ability in a song about bringing people together regardless of who you are or where you’re from. Since its release, the song has gained the attention of new listeners and peaked at #2 on the SIRIUSXM Top of the Country Radio Chart.

Listen to “Bleed Country” below and learn more about David Boyd Janes and his CNE performances via our mini-interview.

First off, care to introduce yourself to our readers?

Hey friends! My name is Dave and I’m a Canadian singer-songwriter from Toronto, Ontario. I currently reside in Keswick, ON, and make music for a living. I decided to give up my business selling furnaces and air conditioners back in late 2017 and have been writing and releasing my own music ever since. My motto in life is “Thoughts Become Things” and I try my best to help encourage others to chase their dreams. I’m an avid supporter of mental health and feel it’s something we need to bring to the surface to encourage others to talk about their feelings, seek help, and know it’s okay to ask for help.

Recently released single, “Bleed Country” peaked at #2 on the SIRIUSXM Top of the Country Radio Chart since its release. How does it feel to have your song gain so much attention?

When I was signed to a major label (Warner Music Canada) they used to tell me that “the SIRIUSXM chart is not a real chart” and here’s what I have to say to that! Without SIRIUSXM’s help, there would be a lot less music out there, especially from the independent side. Honestly, I’m just grateful that the fans are enjoying it and grateful to have continued support from SiriusXM. This is actually my 5th connective Top 5 single as the last 4 went to #1 which is nuts, but again extremely grateful for the support. Releasing this song now as a fully independent artist feels like a crap shoot as their endless politics and secret handshakes in this business lol and I seriously don’t have any friends or connections with SiriusXM so it feels so good to know they genuinely enjoy my music on their station and supporting independent artist is definitely a priority for this station. THANK YOU SIRIUSXM Top of the Country Radio for being such a milestone for all artists that get the privilege to have their music on your station!

You are set to play the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) on September 2nd and 3rd at the Country Stage. For someone who has yet to see you perform live, describe your performance in 5 words or less.

Exactly what a live show should be: FUN! I take a lot of pride in my live show and if ya come out to see it, one thing is guaranteed, you’ll have fun and dance your A$$ off! Sorry, that’s not 5 words lol 🙂

If you had to suggest only ONE song from your career to let a new listener hear your music, which song would you choose? Why?

This is a great question! It would have to be my next single which is coming out this fall. It’s called “Hard Road” I can’t wait for my fans and the world to hear this one. It has a very positive message and for me, that’s what it’s all about. A close second would have to be my current single, “Bleed Country,” it’s in the title. Making music isn’t a choice for me, it’s something I have to do. Popular or not I just love making music and expressing my personal stories through songs.

You worked with Wes Mack and Dan Swinimer on “Bleed Country.” Which other Canadian artist or songwriter would you love to work with in the future?

Canada right now has some incredible talent brewing and to point form give ya a short list of my personal favourites and artists I’d love to work with, it would be;

Riley Taylor
Josh Ross
Cory Marks
Taylor-Rae
Owen Riegling
Andrew Hyatt
Karli June
Don Amero
Dayna Reid
Tim Hicks
Parker Graye
Lydia Sutherland
Dylan Burk

What else do you have up your sleeve for 2023?

I’m direct support for Gord Bamford in Peterborough this October as part of his Canadian Dirt Tour along with my buddy, Karli June. There are also a few un-announced shows coming up that I can’t discuss yet but excited to announce so stay tuned to my socials. That’s all I can say right now but appreciate very much all the support and love from Canadian Beats! Thank you again for helping promote Canadian country music.
