For its second year, Churchill Park Music Festival announced two huge shows across two weekends, Alanis Morissette and The Lumineers. The first weekend opened with a kickoff show on Friday with some local Newfoundland favourites such as Celtic Connection and The Irish Descendants.
Saturday kicked off with another local favourite, Fortunate Ones. This was my first time seeing them after hearing about them time and time again and I’m glad I finally made it to one of their shows. They have some great songs and were a good choice to start off the show.
Next up was someone who caught his big break on TikTok, Talk. Fans were excited to hear his hit “Run Away To Mars” and witness his legendary croc kick, he was even screeched in on stage. He has a great stage presence and also stuck around to meet a few lucky fans before the next act came on.
Cold War Kids were next to hit the stage. I went into their show thinking I only knew a song or two but I ended up recognizing quite of few of their songs and I really enjoyed their set.
Fans packed into the field for the headliner of the night, The Lumineers. Again, I thought I knew a song or two but I knew many more than that. They put off a great show and I’m sure many people are waiting for them to come back again.
