Montreal’s biggest rave îLESONIQ kicked off its 2023 edition yesterday! We started our day in the blazing heat, with equally hot sets from Queen of Booty Bass MANDIZ kicking things off at the main stage, followed by Ben Willo at the Neon Stage. The crowd then showed up in masses for Montreal DJ Michael Sparks.
Dutch house sensation Sam Feldt then had the main stage crowd dancing, just like during his îLESONIQ Redux set in 2021! At the same time, New York’s Ray Volpe brought some heavy beats to the Mirage Stage, with dubstep fans swaying the barricades back and forth as they head banged!
The sky then started getting worryingly dark, and in typical Montreal summer fashion, an absolute downpour fell on the festival. But that didn’t stop the party, with Dutch DJ Afrojack and Swedish sensation Alesso delivering banging sets as the crowd dancing their heart out in the rain!
Finally, the rain cleared out in time for the headlining set, with no other than The Chainsmokers taking over the main stage! The duo provided an electric set, featuring major hits like Closer, Paris, Something Just Like This and Don’t Let Me Down, complete with an insane amount of pyrotechnics and closing the night with fireworks!
Despite the capricious weather, îLESONIQ proved once again that Montrealers love to party, and will do so rain or shine!
