Alternative Folk-Rock band Shred Kelly are set to release their sixth studio album, Blurry Vision on October 20, 2023. The new music was recorded at The Farm Studios in Gibsons with producer Nygel Asselin (mixed by Elisa Pangsaeng, and mastered by Brock McFarlane). The band lived together for a week in a cabin in the woods to record bed tracks before moving over to Vancouver to do overdubs at Nyg Productions.
In advance, they unveiled two singles, “Cracks in the Finish” and most recently, “Nothing For A While.”
Sage McBride shares on “Nothing For A While,”
“Banjo was the main driver of this song – but it turned into an over 6-minute epic with too many parts we loved to cut any of them. We are very excited to get to play this one live.“
Shred Kelly is set to play Summerfolk in Owen Sound, Ontario on August 19 and 20.

First off, care to introduce yourself to our readers?
Hello, I am Sage McBride, one of the members of the Fernie, BC-based alternative folk rock band, Shred Kelly.
Tell us a bit about your most recent release.
We have recently released two singles, “Cracks in the Finish” and “Nothing For a While” over the past few months. They are both 2 of our collective favourite tunes from the upcoming record. “Cracks in the Finish” is a 3-and-a-half-minute-long indie rock song that is about loving each other despite our imperfections, and “Nothing For A While” is a 6-and-a-half-minute long epic song that is a journey that can feel like 6 different songs in 1. It is about the overwhelm of the constant information and bad news we have available at our fingertips and needing to take a break from the noise to return to a sense of self.
You’re set to play Summerfolk in Owen Sound, Ontario on the weekend of August 18-20. Is this your first time performing at the festival? If so, have you ever attended?
This will be our second time playing the festival and we are very excited to return. Looking very forward to collaborating with some of the other artists during the workshops!
With a stellar lineup, who are you excited to check out the fest?
So many, I don’t think we could choose just one. But definitely excited about our workshops with The Lee Boys and Red Fox.
For someone who has yet to see you perform live, describe your performance in 3 words.
– Energetic
– Joyous
– Heartfelt
When you think of a summer festival, like Summerfolk, what’s the first thing that comes to mind that you want to check out, other than the music?
