LeBarons are back with their second album, Days Are Mountains
Toronto/Hamilton-based alt-country group, LeBarons has unveiled their second full-length album, Days Are Mountains, which is co-produced by Cone McCaslin (Sum 41) and John Dinsmore (Sarah Harmer, NQ Arbuckle) and available everywhere digitally now.
The first single, “Through To You” (July 11th) has already been added to 60+ Spotify listeners and curated playlists including Exclaim!’s influential The Eh! List of best new music in Canada. The second single, “True Blue” (August 1st) showcases the band at their best – dynamic, anthemic, with a simultaneously personal yet universal story brought to life by the intertwining harmonies of co-lead vocalists Chris MacDonald and Megan Tilston.
Days Are Mountains sees the band taking more risks, expanding their sound beyond the traditional twang of “alt-country.” The record is heavy, heartbreaking; comforting, and confrontational. The band is more confident, making music that feels real and genuine in the way only truly independent artists can.
Since the release of their debut full-length, Summer Of Death (2018), lead singer and songwriter Chris MacDonald continued to hone his storytelling instincts, channeling the anxiety of the global pandemic into his debut novel, The Things I Came Here With: A Memoir (ECW Press, 2022). The book explores Chris’ challenging childhood and the twisting path that led him to tattooing. It ultimately speaks to the way art can literally save lives. Chris’ lyrics and storytelling have always been the beating heart of LeBarons’ music, and they reach a new level of refinement reflected vividly in the settings and characters animating the world of Days Are Mountains.
