Kyle Richardson’s “Anything” Shows How Kindness Means Everything

Canadian pop artist Kyle Richardson is celebrating his newest single, “Anything”, which was released across all digital streaming platforms on July 21st along with an accompanying music video on YouTube.

Written by Richardson and produced by Grammy-nominated Jeff Dawson (Daniel Powter, Kelly Rowland), “Anything” is the artist’s second of three singles to drop this year in advance of his debut album, Louder Than Words, which arrives in the fall.

With a focus on melody and emotion, “Anything” features lush and expressive vocals to go along with smooth percussion and an engaging guitar hook that maintains the consistent pop flavour and caring sentiment of the song.

Speaking about his new single, Richardson says,

“I wrote ‘Anything’ to be sweet, with a heartfelt message; In any relationship, simple acts of kindness can mean everything. Whether it’s romantic or familial or friendship-based, it’s important to show people what they mean to you and to be there for them the way they have been for you.”

For the Vancouver-based LGBTQIA+ artist, “Anything” follows the release of Richardson’s spring single “Can You Hear Me”, which re-introduced him to audiences after a 4-year release hiatus. An enthusiastic songwriter to go along with being an artist, Richardson has written with a variety of Canadian artists, including Carly Rae Jepsen, DYLN, and Garrett Neiles. He also provided guest vocals on Bobina’s 2016 single, “Love is the Answer”, earning earned over 1.5 million Spotify streams across its accompanying remixes. As a performer at multiple Pride events around his home city, Richardson remains a steadfast supporter of diversity and representation in music.

With the release of “Anything”, Richardson is primed to connect with modern pop enthusiasts from all walks of life through the single’s universal and inclusive themes of kindness and gratitude.

He says,

“I want ‘Anything’ to be a celebration of the meaningful relationships that people have in their lives and to inspire them to let their loved ones know how much they mean to them. Say what’s in your heart and don’t take anything for granted.”

First off, care to introduce yourself to our readers?

My name is Kyle Richardson, I’m a pop singer-songwriter based out of Vancouver, BC.

You’ve unveiled your single, “Anything.” Tell us a bit about the writing process behind the release.

“Anything” is a song I wrote completely by myself, quite a while ago. I wrote this song on acoustic guitar, and honestly, it was a pretty quick writing session. I really wanted to write a song about letting the people I love know how much they mean to me, and that I’ll always be there for them. The song is very sweet and romantic. It was almost written as a reminder to myself to not take the people I care about for granted.

You worked with Grammy-nominated producer Jeff Dawson. How was that experience?

Working with Jeff has been amazing! He’s a wonderful collaborator who really takes my vision seriously and has great input and ideas to expand the music beyond what I even originally envisioned. He’s been very patient on this song and all the others we have worked on, letting me come back after the fact and tweak the vocals, and giving great suggestions on things that could be improved or changed. He’s really lyric and intention-focused, so he’s great at making choices that suit the song.

You are set to release your debut album, Louder Than Words in the fall. Besides the two singles, “Anything” and “Can You Hear Me,” describe what can we expect from the release in five words or less.

Soulful, melodic, diverse, heartfelt, smooth.

If you could work with any fellow Canadian artist, who would you choose?

I’d love to work with some of my all-time Canadian faves. It would be amazing to write with Bryan Adams, Shania Twain, or Avril Lavigne. They all have such a great sense of self and write such great music. I’ve seen them all live and the shows are just incredible!
