Ottawa’s The Fly Downs Release New Stand Alone Single “Fabric Of Humanity”

Ottawa-based punk outfit The Fly Downs has released a new single titled “Fabric Of Humanity.” This song spotlights the dark side of the world as we know it while trying to find the light at the end of the tunnel.

In the fall of 2016, the trio that would become known as The Fly Downs started making punk rock music directly under the flight path of incoming planes. Fast forward 5 years later and they would add a 4th member completing the current lineup. A mix of melodic, pop, and skate punk.

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?

We are The Fly Downs, from Ottawa, Ontario. We were recently described as a melodic brand of pop punk and skate punk, which we think describes us well!

Tell us a bit about your most recent release.

“Fabric Of Humanity” is a socially conscious song that highlights some of the issues that are plaguing the world today. Essentially, it shines a light on the things that are tearing us apart but yearns for a (potentially impossible) “coming together”.

It was recorded, produced, and mixed by Cameron Dunn at Hillside Audio. It was Mastered by Scott Middleton.

Where do you tend to pull inspiration from when writing?

Inspiration comes in many shapes and sizes. The last album we released had a song (Teddy’s Revenge) inspired by creepypastas. There are some anti-war songs and songs that question our government. Most of our inspiration comes from the things that piss us off, but there is often a tinge of optimism sprinkled on top of all the other layers.

Do you have any upcoming shows you’d like to tell us about?

We have a show coming up on September 15th, at The Dominion Tavern with Dead Petey Society, Outta Hand, Among Legends, and Sundown Superhero!

This will be our last show of the year.

What’s your goal for 2023?

After our September 15th show, we are going to hit the studio to record 10-11 more songs and the plan is to release our next album in 2024.
