First off, care to introduce yourself to our readers?

Hey Everyone! My name is Angelique Francis and I am a JUNO award-winning multi-instrumentalist, multi-genre singer-songwriter, composer, and bandleader of the international touring band, the Angelique Francis Band. We have also been awarded two Canadian Blues Music Awards (Maple Blues Awards), a Capital Music Award, and nominated for four 2023 Canadian Blues music awards, a 2023 Canadian folk music award, and a 2022 Ontario folk music award.

Tell us a bit about your most recent release.

My latest album “Long River” recently received the 2023 JUNO Award for Blues Album of the Year, and takes listeners on a journey through the various forms of blues, and blues-influenced music.

Watch out for new releases in the coming months!

You’re playing Stan Rogers Folk Festival this year. Is this your first time playing the festival? If so, have you ever attended?

Yes, this is my first time playing Stan Rogers Folk Festival, and this will be my first time in Nova Scotia as well. I am very excited to visit this beautiful part of our Country!

With a stellar, hugely-Canadian lineup, who are you excited to check out at the festival?

Everyone! There are so many amazing musicians at the festival this year. I look forward to catching up with old friends and making new ones along the way.

For someone who has yet to see you perform live, describe your performance in 3 words.

Prepare To Dance!

On Saturday, July 22, there will also be a tribute to Gordon Lightfoot, so I have to ask, what is your favourite Gordon Lightfoot song?

Sundown! I love that song! It was one of the first songs I learned to play on the guitar when I was in middle school.

Do you have any other upcoming shows or festivals to tell us about?

I will be performing at the Stan Rogers Folk Festival on July 21- 22, followed by several other performances this summer. For more information on my upcoming shows please visit: https://angeliquefrancis.net/shows
