Tonight, British rocker Yungblud rocked a packed MTelus! It had been a minute since we saw Dom in town, his last visit being during the 2019 Jazz Festival! With this show being postponed multiple times over the past 3 years, it’s no doubt the crowd was buzzing with anticipation as soon as they started camping early this morning!
We started our evening with Toronto’s Sophie Powers, who charmed the crowd with her pop-punk lyrics and her head-to-toe Hello Kitty outfit!
Up next, LA rock band The Regrettes hopped on stage. Charismatic lead singer Lydia Night hyped the crowd, even getting the audience to do a wall of death (something we’re more used to seeing at metal shows, not in a crowd of young fans)! The rock vibes were immaculate, and a great way to get the audience excited for the main act!
By the time 9.30pm rolled around, there was officially no free space in MTelus, as screaming fans pressed to the front to get as close as possible to the man of the hour. Yungblud arrived onstage the only way he ever does, jumping and running around! He started with the energy at 500%, and that somehow did not dim throughout the evening! With his McDonald’s hamburglar pants, black nail polish and jewelry, Dom made one thing very clear: at a Yungblud show, you can (and should) come as you are!
Yungblud kicked off his show with superdeadfriends, and played all the hits throughout his 90-minute set, including fan favourites Parents, Medicine, MGK collab I Think I’m OKAY, Hope for the underrated youth. He ended with encore tracks Lowlife and Loner, sending fans home on cloud nine after a long-awaited show!
