Re-Introducing Simon Clow – The Country Artist Formerly Known As Kadooh
Simon Clow – known as Kadooh throughout his career, as a solo artist and member of the multi-platinum band State of Shock – returns today with a brand new single through 604 Records, “Once Upon a Bar”. A love letter to sun and sand, the track is meant to capture the feeling you get paddling on over to that swim-up bar, or the way droplets dance across the skin on a hot summer day.
“Whenever I hear songs about the beach it really takes me there, and I hope that’s the kind of vibe everyone will feel when they hear this one,” says Clow. “Just a little escape for three and a half minutes — and a little fun. Hell yeah.”
“Once Upon a Bar” maintains the kind of auditory diversity fans have continued to enjoy from the West Coast creative, who has always had a limitless attitude when it comes to the kind of music he wants to make: from rock to country, ballads to bangers. Clow is a longtime collaborator with lifelong friend Chad Kroeger, most recently co-writing a song on Nickelback’s latest album.
“I never want to come out and sing the same song 10 times a night; that’s just not me,” he says. “It’s all about different styles of music and different vibes. Like anything else, genres are always changing and adapting. I’m going to change along with them. Why put music in a box? Whether it’s a party on a beach, or something that brings out a tonne of emotion. Just sing along and enjoy it.”
The multi-BCCMA-winning singer/songwriter is getting ready to hit the road this summer with new music, switching things up, and getting back to his roots as Simon Clow.
“I’ve grown a lot in the last few years, and I think it was just time for me to kind of be me.” The decision to perform under his given name wasn’t just about the music, but to pay homage to his mother, as well. “She’s been a such a rock for me in my life — she gave me the name. Country music brings me back to Simon Clow from Alberta. That’s where my roots are.”
