Pop-rock Band Encore Recently Released Their Succinct New Single, “DONE”

Encore – the fiery pop-rock group fronted by brothers Donald and Richard Plant, have stepped into the limelight as one of the music industry’s most vibrant new artists. Since their debut, the Plant brothers have launched themselves into orbit as a band that focuses on creating a community through their music and building a legacy for years to come. By fusing together a blend of inspiration from some of music’s timeless legends, Encore has contrived a unique, Rolling Stones-esque look supported by a boisterous and intrepid sound.

Their song, “DONE,” reflects the irony of how just a few simple words can be expanded into an entire story, diving into its history and saying so much even though it appears to be so little. Four distinct sections of song that somehow blend together into a kind of raw, authentic feeling sound that hits your heart and resonates with your emotions.

“We wanted to bring back the feeling of nostalgia that music can give you – one of complete submersion into a track where you’re singing at the top of your lungs in your bedroom, or even in the car,” says Donald. “‘DONE’ gives us that opportunity to emotionally connect, giving 100% of ourselves to express thoughts and feelings through a few simple words.”

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?

Hey! Thank you so much for having us. We are Encore, a three-piece pop-rock band based out of Winnipeg, Canada. We’ve been making music together with this lineup for five years now and have had some great recording and touring experiences thus far. Our musical style is a blend of genres, but our goal when writing or recording is to bring a unique, modern twist to nostalgic feeling songs that you can sing along to or connect with at any time.

Tell us a bit about your most recent release.

Our new single ‘DONE’ is the beginning of a new chapter for us. We wanted to start a totally new era, one that allowed us to push into new creative territory, while also staying true to our love for classic feeling records. This song gives listeners an introduction to the new sound we’ve been working on and starts off a chain of music that we’ll continue to roll out this year. ‘DONE’ tells an ironic story of how just a few simple words can be expanded to reveal a complex history, one that showcases feelings of obsession, temptation, and saying so much despite appearing to be so little.

Where do you tend to pull inspiration from when writing?

For our new music, we’ve been inspired by artists or albums that give a full experience to any listener, one that tells a story, and gives a cinematic, larger-than-life feeling across its songs. As a band, it’s been interesting to see how our interests and inspirations have changed as we come across new music, especially when it’s shared by one of us. With this new music, for example, one of our members shared a Fall Out Boy song, and the rest of the band immediately listened to a lot of their repertoire, which I’m sure in some way has influenced our new sound. It’s really a cool process and makes the creative side of things very special to be a part of.

Do you have any upcoming shows you’d like to tell us about?

Coming off our tour at the end of 2022, and our performance at this year’s Festival Du Voyageur, we have been completely locked in on recording and starting this new chapter. As we continue to roll out with releases and finish the production of the new music, we’ll be soon switching our attention and planning a tour to perform these songs live. Our goal is to make it to Europe and share these stories together for the first time with our listeners there.

What’s your goal for 2023?

Our goal for this year is to finish up production on all the songs of our debut album and release a set of singles to follow ‘DONE.’ As the recordings that we’re working on are part of a bigger body of work, our aim is to ensure that each of the new releases complement each other, while staying true to the theatrical, cinematic feelings that we’re trying to share within our music. This new chapter has already been surreal, and we hope to continue this path with the recording and releasing that we do throughout the remainder of this year.
