Deluxe Rodeo Shares First Orignal Single, “Genuine” From Upcoming EP Of The Same Name, Coming This Fall
The band Deluxe Rodeo unveils their first ever original single called “Genuine,” from their upcoming EP to be released next fall. Written by Cindy Marcil, the lead singer of the band, and composed by the four other members, the song “Genuine” is inspired by female country music icons such as Miranda Lambert and Kelsea Ballerini. For their debut single, the production was entrusted to John Anthony Gagnon-Robinette (Kaïn, Brittany Kennell, Justin Legacy). With its catchy lyrics and upbeat rhythm, “Genuine” is dedicated to all the modern country girls who rock in both their cowboy boots and high heels!
Cindy Marcil, lead singer of Deluxe Rodeo shares,
“The writing of the song “Genuine” came to me while I was watching a report on Reba McEntire. Coming from a modest background where rodeo, barrel racing, agriculture, and family values reigned, this fully self-assured cowgirl doesn’t hesitate to trade her Wrangler jeans and cowboy boots for sequins and high heels when the occasion calls for it. The perfect analogy between the ranch cowgirl and the country star! I see myself a lot in her! You can call me Genuine!”

First off, care to introduce yourselves to our readers?
We are a Country Rock Band, established since 2018. Lovers of American and Canadian country music, and we are thrilled to present our original material to present our own color and sound to our fans that have been following us since the beginning. We released our first single called “Genuine” on April 21, and our five-song EP will be released this fall. We are very excited!
You have unveiled your debut original single, “Genuine.” Tell us a bit about the writing process behind the release.
I was looking for a catchy subject for a song when I happened to be listening to the Superstar show. It was the episode featuring the extraordinary Reba McEntire. Suddenly, inspiration struck, and I had this idea of writing a song about a cowgirl who rocks both high heels and glitter dresses, as well as cowboy boots, in a Rodeo. Thus, the song ‘Genuine’ was born. Excited about the concept, I approached my dear friend Reney Ray for further refinement of the lyrics, and our guitarist, Tony Kosko, contributed the first chords. Eventually, we finalized the song during a memorable band retreat where we all collaborated. It was an unforgettable experience!
You worked with John Anthony Gagnon-Robinette on the track. How was that experience?
Working with John-Anthony Gagnon Robinette was an incredible experience! His professionalism, meticulousness, creativity, and expertise truly showcased his extraordinary talent. He attentively listened to our needs and took our performances and songs to a whole new level.
The song is inspired by female country music icons, who was the first Canadian female country artist to catch your attention growing up?
Oh my goodness! The decision between Shania Twain and Terri Clark is such a tough one! These two artists may be completely different from each other, but they both had a significant impact on my teenage years. They are both incredibly talented and have the power to captivate audiences with their unique styles. Both have left an indelible mark on my musical journey.
You will be releasing an EP titled Genuine this Fall. Can you give us any inside information on the release? (even a little hint)
With great excitement, I present to you the EP that comprises five captivating songs, including a dose of energetic Rock ‘N Roll titled ‘Hellcat.’ Additionally, two heartfelt tracks have been included—one delving into the complexities of a toxic relationship, while the other explores the theme of unwavering love amidst illness. I’ll leave it to your imagination to guess the topic of the latter!
Mark your calendars for August 25th, as we will be releasing the second single, ‘White T-shirt,’ a foot-tapping ‘Train beat’ that will surely get you on your feet and dancing in no time! And that’s not all—the EP launch is scheduled for early October in Montreal. Be sure to stay tuned for further updates and more information as we get closer to the big event!
